The area of Bantry Bay is a well-known exclusive, wind-free, quiet and secure suburb – and in particular, De Wet Road, a cul-de-sac. We are higher up the avenues and have amazing sea views from just about every part of the house. Close to most places; the main beaches, restaurants, V&A Waterfront Shopping Centre, 7 minutes from the CBD, a few minutes from Sea Point for shops and restaurants, walks on the Promenade, and a few hiking trails on your doorstep.

General features – an in-door lift that services the four floors; wi-fi throughout the house (100MB Fibre); underfloor heating throughout the house; air-conditioning in all bedrooms and study; VoIP telephone system; satellite TV, Netflix, PS5, Sonos for convenient music streaming to different entertainment areas – LED HD in all bedrooms as well as bar and study areas, while the theatre room boasts both LED HD for casual viewing or large screen projector for that special movie night complimented by state of the art surround sound system. House is protected by an alarm that is also linked to a security company that is dedicated to the area. The bedroom zone can be closed off if security is a concern, although we have never needed it.

The house has four stories made up as follows;

first floor – Entrance hall, guest toilet; Entertainment area; built-in bar surrounded by natural granite rockery, pool table, 65″ LED HD display with streaming services, Sonos music centre with an outside channel, covered and open terrace for seating as well as pool lounges around heated jacuzzi and small solar heated swimming pool.

Second floor – Open plan Living area; newly renovated kitchen and scullery, dining room with attached wine storage, formal lounge, theatre room with both LED HD display as well as HD projector and a large screen with Satellite TV (DSTV), Netflix, 7.1 channel surround sound, internal double glazing for sound suppression, light control as well as pre-programmed “light brain”. Guest toilet. Underfloor heating and gas fireplace. Automated roller blinds for managing the heat and light to personal comforts. Outside terraces comprising of a covered gas BBQ and seating area, a covered outside lounge area, an outside dining area, and open sun terrace for sun tanning and/or evening sundowners – great for entertaining.

Third floor – four bedrooms, three bathrooms (two en-suite – one in the main bedroom and one in the guest bedroom). All bedrooms have air conditioners and underfloor heating. The main bedroom has remote-controlled automated curtains, an outside terrace, a shower/steam shower, and a spa bath. The third bedroom also has an outside terrace. All bedrooms have LED HD displays with Satellite TV (DSTV), Netflix, while the main bedroom has an additional sound system attached.

Fourth floor – self-contained study/office only accessible by lift, with library; lounge area for hosting business meetings; use the 65” Frame TV for displaying presentations, streaming your favourite channel or simply put it in frame mode for displaying art; a guest toilet; all leading out to a large wooden deck with amazing views over the bay – great for catching that tan or even an evening dinner entertaining guests. Use the mobile fridge for keeping your drinks cold. An adjacent Zen garden for peaceful reading and/or those special moments.

In addition, the home has two garages with remote controlled access, a steep driveway, (the price one pays to live higher up), but although it may first appear challenging you will soon get the hang of it. The home also has a self-contained cottage. Norah, our housekeeper for many years lives in the cottage and will come as part of the rental as she is familiar with the house, does all the cleaning, washing, and ironing, as well as the ability to prepare breakfast and cook certain meals. Norah is a real gem and great with young kids too. Modesta will assist Norah 3 times per week too.

The rental charge includes Housekeeper, cleaner as specified above, reasonable water and electricity usage. The garden is maintained by a professional company.
